This Project Outline is designed to develop student skills in designing and creating their own game using Scratch. Scratch is an introductory programming language that provides a great stepping stone into the more complex side of computer programming. Scratch is a visual language, this means users create programs by ‘dragging and dropping’ elements graphically rather than needing to create them textually. This is why it is a great way to introduce coding to kids. The visual‘blocks’ allow kids to create their own games, interactive stories and innovate projects.Once confidence and understanding develops, the skills and concepts learnt while programming in Scratch can easily be applied to other languages such as Python and Javascript.
